The Science

I think in the twenty-first century we’re going to be able to do an awful lot that we weren’t able to do up to now, simply because science will be admitted to the spiritual aspects of mankind, and vice versa — what has been segregated for at least three hundred years, since Galileo, where the spiritual aspects, in Western culture at least, have been sort of relegated over here.

People have split this, you know. We build buildings, and we do surgery, and do all of these things. Then we have a spiritual aspect to ourselves; we go do that somewhere else. Whereas now I think these things will come together…

The 21st Century is the Age of “Energy”

There is growing scientific interest world wide in the field of mind-body medicine and the effect of natural “energy forces” within the body on health and wellbeing.

As modern science continues to validate and explain the beneficial effects of these energetic modalities they will continue to gain mainstream acceptance, moving from the fringe toward “social convention”.

In a few decades scientists have gone from a conviction that there is no such thing as an energy field around the human body, to an absolute certainty that it exists. Moreover, science is explaining the roles of energy fields in health and disease.

Since it’s inception, the Network Spinal Analysis (NSA) method has been on the fringe.

Network Spinal Analysis represents the epitome of ‘body’ work in our times; the leading edge of Body-Mind-Spirit integration. The work will transform the planet.

Research and Network Spinal Analysis

Virtually everything about how and why NSA works, from the feather-light force applications and the wave-like movements that ripple through patient’s spines to the reports by many patient’s that NSA has helped them have awakening experiences, NSA has been both praised as the new frontier in mind-body healing and mocked as quackery.

In the early 1990’s as the stories of life-changing experiences from patients receiving Network Care began to spread, the Association for Network Care in conjunction with the University of California Irvine Medical College, devised a study to retrospectively explore the impact of NSA care on quality of life. Over 2,800 patients participated, and the results proved that NSA had a significant effect on the self-reported quality of life in a majority of the patients in the study.

Network Care has a direct effect on client self-reported wellness which is TWICE that expected from healthy lifestyle practices (exercise, risk avoidance, optimal food choices). Network also has a major effect on wellness by promoting healthy lifestyle choices.

Not only did 76% of the patients studied report improved combined wellness changes in all categories assessed, but the longer the individuals were in care, the greater the level of improvement. After over 3 years of care, no limit or ceiling was found to the benefits. This is remarkable.

See the study here.

Although the U.C. Irvine study showed that NSA care had a very positive impact on patient’’s self-perceived quality of life, it didn’’t fully explore the physiological mechanisms behind that improvement. The questions still remained, “Why do people experience such significant life improvement with NSA? What’’s really going on within the body and mind of a patient under NSA care?” These questions led to the ongoing exploration of the mechanisms of NSA with researcher Edmund Jonckheere Ph.D.

Jonckeere along with his colleagues at the department of Electrical Engineering-Systems at the University of Southern California, began studying the signals which had been recorded along the spines’ of patients during NSA sessions with a device called surface Electromyography. The results of the analysis revealed a definitive relationship between the wave motions created during an NSA session and a patient’’s level of progress, also called their “level of care”.

See the study here.

The research by Jonckeere and his team led to a number of scientific articles, one in which Jonckeere wrote “The main conclusion is that the sEMG signal of NSA reveals a new class of complex nonlinear dynamic behavior.” In lay terms this meant that the Electromyography signals that Jonckeere’s team had measured showed conclusively, that NSA care was helping the brain and body somehow develop an entirely new pattern of behavior with a global effect.

See the study here.

The next question is, “What is it about this new class of behavior that’s actually helping improve the patient’s quality of life so dramatically? Professor Jonckeere and his team are currently conducting further research on patients undergoing NSA care, and have presented their findings in publications and conferences internationally.

Rigorous academic study and a body of research grounded in scientific method and published in peer-reviewed journals is necessary for any methodology to be accepted by the scientific community.

The NSA method is no exception, and much further research is needed.  Donny Epstein (NSA’s developer) was has been heard to joke, “The scientists involved in the research say that yes, it works in the real world, but the real question is does it work in theory!?”
